was formed out of frustration of not being able to find a quality bike light that was designed to be a bike light from the beginning. As an automotive lighting engineer I knew how high performance lights were designed and it was a pain to spend $300 on a bike light that was nothing more than a fancy flashlight.
Armed with my knowledge, and access to optical engineering software I developed a few prototypes, tested them out with friends, and went back to the drawing board.
After a successful run of prototypes, I launched Outbound Lighting on Kickstarter. In 30 days we raised nearly $30,000 that helped to fund the tooling for the project. 6 months later all 150+ backers had the lights in their hands and they loved them.
